LAHORE:In view of the unusual severity of the weather and the ongoing heat wave in the city, daily supply of ORS mixed water has been ensured in the peads ward of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to protect children from salt deficiency, which will enable the speedy recovery of children.
Pediatricians Prof. Faryad Hussain and Dr Anam Batool said that on the instructions of Principal Ameeruddin Medical College Prof Dr M Farooq Afzal, keeping in mind the risk of salt deficiency in children, Nimkol (oral dehydration salt) has been arranged in the wards, which will be available 24 hours in the wards.
This step has been taken especially to protect children from water and salt deficiency immediately and the parents expressed satisfaction with this facility. Doctors said that ORS mixed water is prepared in every shift in the peads ward and is given to those children who suffer with water deficiency, diarrhea or dysentery. This helps children recover faster and they do not suffer from salt deficiency. In this regard, Prof. Farooq Afzal said that according to the vision of CM Punjab, state-of-the-art facilities are being provided free of cost to sick children at LGH.
