Iranian lawmakers thank Pakistan for support
Chants came after Iranian President addressed parliament and commended Pakistan for siding with Iran
KARACHI: In a strong show of gratitude on the floor of the Iranian parliament, lawmakers on Monday chanted “Thank you, thank you Pakistan” in response to Islamabad’s recent show of support for Iran amid the ongoing tensions with Israel.
The chants came after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the Majlis (parliament) and commended Pakistan for siding with Iran. Referring to a resolution passed by Pakistan’s Senate, Pezeshkian said: “Yesterday, Pakistan’s Senate approved a resolution stating that it stands with Iran against Israel’s nefarious policies. And wherever needed, they will stand with us. Pakistan, thank you, thank you. Pakistan, thank you, thank you.”
The lawmakers too then responded with repeated slogans of “Thank you, thank you Pakistan”. Pakistan’s Senate had recently adopted a resolution denouncing Israeli actions and expressing solidarity with Iran.
