MARDAN: Six members of a family, including three children, lost their lives while two children were injured in a gas cylinder blast in Irum colony, a posh area of the city, on the first day of Eidul Azha, Rescue 1122 and local sources said.
The sources added that the gas cylinder blast rocked the house of one Amjad Khan, a businessman and owner of a shoe shop at the Irum Colony.The blast damaged the roof of the two-storey house and left six members of the family dead.
The deceased were identified as Fawad and Shah Fahad, sons of Amjad Khan, wife of Fawad, 7-year-old Rehan, 4-year-old Hamza and 8-year-old Toba.The injured included 5-year-old Ayesha and 5-year-old Dua, daughters of Fawad.
The wounded were shifted to the Mardan Medical Complex. The blast flattened the upper structure of the house, burying the occupants under the debris.Rescue 1122 teams, police and people rushed to the scene to help with the rescue efforts. The Rescue 1122 pulled out six deceased and two injured from the rubble.Funeral prayers of the deceased were offered at Irum colony on the first day of Eidul Azha. The local people, relatives and well-wishers attended the funeral .
