Section 144 imposed around airports, airbases across Punjab
LAHORE:The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 within a 15-kilometer radius around all airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) airbases throughout the Punjab province.
Under this order, pigeon flying, fireworks, the use of drones and laser lights, and the disposal of sacrificial animal waste in the specified areas are strictly prohibited. These restrictions will remain in effect from June 5 to June 20, aiming to prevent activities that could disrupt flight operations and to enhance flight safety. According to a spokesperson for the Home Department, birds attracted to open animal waste pose serious threats to aircraft and passengers.
The Home Secretary of Punjab has issued this order under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898. The ban will be enforced uniformly across all airports and adjoining airbases in the province.
The Home department has also instructed deputy commissioners concerned to ensure strict implementation of Section 144 and maintain cleanliness around airports to eliminate all factors that could attract birds and jeopardise aviation safety.
Meanwhile, the LWMC has intensified cleanliness measures to provide enhanced sanitation services to citizens during Eid-ul-Azha. To implement the Eid cleanliness plan, LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din is supervising field cleaning operations, and he visited Imamia Colony and Shahdara localities the other day to review the sanitation arrangements.
He also assessed manual sweeping and door-to-door waste collection activities in Begum Kot Chowk, Sagian Road, Qazi Park, Ravi Road, and surrounding areas. During his visit, the CEO engaged with shopkeepers and residents to assess their awareness and participation in door-to-door waste collection efforts. On the occasion, he promised to provide them a clean and hygienic environment during Eid.
4,000 cops deployed on cattle markets security
Punjab police have deployed 4,000 officers and personnel to ensure the security of 230 cattle markets across the Punjab province ahead of Eid. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, strict security measures and patrolling by 284 teams, including the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit, are in place to protect traders and buyers from criminals and fraudsters.
