A violent confrontation broke out at the Defence police station on Thursday as police clashed with a group of approximately 80-90 individuals, including students and some lawyers, who allegedly attacked the station in an attempt to secure the release of three arrested individuals.

According to the police, an FIR (No. 309/25) had been registered against the suspects under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Sections 147, 148, 149, 186, 353, 427, 337A(i), and 506/504. The FIR was filed by a state complainant who reported that the group arrived at the police station in several vehicles and began shouting and demanding the release of three men who had been detained during a routine police snap-checking operation.

The situation escalated quickly when the crowd grew aggressive, throwing stones, smashing windowpanes, and damaging government property. They also attacked police officers with sticks and fists. Police officers, including the Station House Officer (SHO), tried to deescalate the situation, but the crowd continued to threaten the officers and shout abusive slogans.

SHO Suleman stated that the three detained individuals claimed to be law students and were being released on personal surety when they called their fellow students and others to the scene. The group then attacked the police station and its personnel. In response, the police used tear gas and baton charges to control the situation.

The SHO refuted claims from the students and lawyers that four of their group had been injured by police gunfire, asserting that any injuries sustained were a result of police actions involving tear gas and baton charges. As of the filing of this report, no arrests have been made. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
