LAHORE: Former Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal has made an emotional plea to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for a chance to revive his international career.

Speaking to a group of journalists, Akmal revealed his repeated but unsuccessful attempts to secure a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The 34-year-old batter expressed frustration over the dismissive attitude of the chairman’s staff, who reportedly rebuffed his requests.

“I have all the proof to show that I have tried to contact the PCB chairman,” Akmal said. “I have called his manager and others around him, but they behave rudely, saying, ‘We will inform you when he gives you time,’ and then disconnect the call. The PCB exists for the players, and if they don’t maintain good relationships with us, where are we supposed to go?”

Akmal last played for Pakistan in 2019. Akmal’s career has been overshadowed by fitness concerns, off-field controversies, and inconsistent performances. He lost his central contract in 2017 after criticising then-head coach Mickey Arthur and former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.
