Rustam-e-Pakistan to be held in February
LAHORE: The Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) plans to hold Rustam-e-Pakistan 2025 in February.
As per the PWF, all wrestling units across the country have been instructed to submit the names of two wrestlers by January 31 to ensure their participation. While the initial rounds will kick off in February, the date for the grand finale has yet to be revealed.
The competition is part of a broader effort to celebrate Pakistan’s rich wrestling tradition. Dr. Tufail of the Sports Board Punjab (SBP) highlighted the cultural and historical importance of the sport, stating: “Wrestling has deep roots in our heritage. Before Partition, Lahore hosted the iconic Rustam-e-Hind competitions. Rustam-e-Pakistan continues this legacy.”
Dr. Tufail also emphasised plans to include wrestling in future development programmes, with a vision of inviting international wrestlers to participate in upcoming editions, thereby expanding the event’s global appeal.
