PM approves creation of 1,934 more posts for Islamabad Police taking into consideration PTI repeated protest calls
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to increase the strength of Islamabad Police with more police recruitments.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the creation of 1,934 more posts for the Islamabad Police taking into consideration Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) repeated call for sit-ins and protests in the capital.
Sources said the Interior Ministry had sent a summary creation of these posts to the prime minister for approval in view of law & order situation in Islamabad.
The Management Services Wing of Establishment Division agreed to the summary. These new posts include 24 inspectors of Grade-16, 50 sub-inspectors, 100 ASIs, 180 head constables and 1,580 constables.
The Interior Ministry has been informed about the approval of the summary.
The ministry will now take approval of these posts from the Finance Division. Earlier, 1,000 posts were approved for protection of foreign nationals, especially Chinese. The appointees will be posted in the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
