Mountains significance for life on earth to be showcased
Islamabad:Development Communications Network (Devcom-Pakistan) is proud to announce the 14th edition of Pakistan Mountain Festival, the annual flagship event to celebrate mountains significance for life on the planet earth. It is world’s largest event dedicated to mainstreaming the challenges facing Pakistan’s mountainous regions and celebrating the vibrant cultures, heritage, and unique products of mountain communities. Scheduled to commence on November 27, this year’s two-week festival will open with a live painting session by students at the Punjab Arts Council in Rawalpindi, showcasing the artistic reflections of young people on mountain heritage, landscapes and environmental issues, said Devcom-Pakistan Executive Director and the founder of the Pakistan Mountain Festival Munir Ahmed while talking to this scribe on Saturday.
Each year, the Pakistan Mountain Festival marks International Mountain Day (December 11) by bringing together stakeholders, artisans, environmental advocates, cultural enthusiasts, and the public to focus on mountain conservation, sustainable development, and community empowerment. The event serves as a dynamic platform where mountain communities can connect with a larger audience, raise awareness, and promote their cultural heritage, crafts, and locally produced goods.
Speaking the main features of the Pakistan Mountain Festival this year, Munir Ahmed said: The 14th edition promises a series of engaging events aimed at capturing the essence and spirit of Pakistan’s mountain regions, from the Karakoram and Himalayas to the Hindu Kush. Kicking off on November 27, students from art schools and universities across the region will engage in a live painting session. This creative showcase will feature interpretations of the heritage beauty, culture, and environmental issues facing Pakistan’s mountainous landscapes, bringing attention to the artistic perspectives of Pakistan’s youth on mountain conservation. The exhibition of the students’ paintings and the prize distribution ceremony will be organized on December 4 at PAC-Rawalpindi.

A vibrant fair titled ‘Mountain Food, Culture and Tourism Fest’ featuring mountain community artisans will exhibit traditional handicrafts, textiles, jewellery, and other locally made products will be organized on December 7-8 at the Best Western Premier Hotel.
