LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz welcomed a trade delegation from Saudi Arabia and expressed heartfelt sentiments about the close ties between the two nations.
Welcoming the delegation, Maryam said, “Saudi Arabia holds a special place in the heart of every Pakistani.” She said, “Pak-Saudi relations are reaching new heights of closeness. PMLN leadership is fully committed to making Pakistan an attractive destination for investors. Saudi investors will receive full support for corporate farming.” The chief minister said, “There are lucrative investment opportunities for Saudi investors in Punjab. The province offers excellent prospects in agriculture, livestock, IT and telecommunications. We will ensure complete facilitation and support for Saudi investors in the energy, industry, tourism, and textile sectors. Saudi Arabia is like an elder brother to us and its cooperation has been exceptional in every challenging moment.”
Maryam Nawaz also met with a delegation led by Anbreen Ajaib, Executive Director of the women’s rights NGO Bedari. The delegation included 36 female students. Anbreen Ajaib briefed on the services offered by Bedari, and the students presented a ‘Charter of Demands.’ It was decided to form special committees to address harassment in girls’ schools. Additionally, it was agreed that International Girls’ Day would be celebrated in Punjab’s schools.
In response to the students’ wishes, the chief minister announced plans to distribute tablets and e-bikes.
In her message on the World Mental Health Day, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said Mental health is key to inner peace. She said, “Unfortunately, mental health issues are often overlooked causing people to suffer in silence. We are working to ensure adequate mental health facilities are available in Punjab. We should empathize with those around us and reassure them that they are not alone.”
