Odho tells CIA to take action against repeat offenders

Karachi: Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho on Tuesday presided over separate meetings with the traffic and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) chiefs, tasking the CIA Karachi with taking action against repeat offenders.
Addl IG Odho held a meeting at the Karachi Police Office (KPO) to discuss the performance of CIA units. The meeting was attended by CIA chief DIG Muquddus Haider, and the SSPs of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell among other officers.
Odho conducted a detailed review of the progress in cases of robbery, street crime, murder, kidnapping, vehicle theft and other significant incidents. He issued orders for the timely investigation of these cases and the prompt arrest of suspects, while also directing improvements in overall performance.
He also ordered the preparation of a comprehensive strategy to combat crime in the city and to expedite police action against criminal elements. Furthermore, he tasked the AVCC with increasing its focus on kidnapping cases, particularly those involving honey traps.
The meeting was briefed on the resolution of most ransom cases in Karachi, with several honey trap cases also reported and many successfully solved, while most of the honey traps originated from Rahim Yar Khan and its surrounding areas, with several victims rescued in a timely manner.
Additionally, Odho ordered launching an awareness campaign for Karachi residents about honey traps, utilising various platforms to ensure that the public is informed about such criminal practices. The meeting also noted that CIA teams had conducted successful operations against Kutcha dacoits.
