KARACHI: The Board of Directors of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has announced the appointment of Muhammad Amin Rajput as acting managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO). This decision was confirmed through a notice issued to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.
According to the notice, the board made this appointment during a meeting held on September 12. Rajput will assume the role of acting MD/CEO effective immediately, following the end of Imran Maniar’s term on September 13.
Imran Maniar stepped down from his position earlier this month to explore other opportunities. In its statement, SSGC expressed its respect for Maniar’s decision and formally accepted his resignation.
Muhammad Amin Rajput, the newly appointed interim CEO, joined SSGC as chief internal auditor (CIA) in March 2012. In this capacity, Rajput was instrumental in implementing the company’s code of corporate governance and code of ethics.
Rajput also served as chief financial officer (CFO) from February 2015 to June 2016. During his tenure, he successfully addressed several financial issues and finalized multiple financial statements that were pending due to various regulatory concerns. He also managed the financing of the Rs60 billion RLNG transmission pipeline project for SSGC.Rajput’s appointment reflects the board’s confidence in his leadership abilities and his proven track record in operations, finance and internal audit.
