JUIF chief says people sceptical of operation
Operations carried out in Swat and Waziristan brought miseries and displaced a large number of people
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Wednesday the people would have welcomed the military operation had those conducted in the past been fruitful.
Talking to reporters at a function, he said the operations carried out in Swat and Waziristan brought miseries and displaced a large number of people.
“Those dislocated from native lands have not been compensated for the losses they had suffered,” said the JUIF chief while explaining the reasons why people were skeptical of the fresh military operation.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said instead of launching any operation, an earnest effort should be made to know the root cause of the terrorism problem.
He said instead of submitting to the wishes of others, our rulers should start thinking independently and make decisions as a sovereign nation.
In response to a question about the seats reserved for women and minorities whose case was being heard by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the JUIF chief said he would comment on the issue only after the case was decided by the apex court.
