Personnel of the Anti-Smuggling Organisation of the Pakistan Customs have foiled a bid to smuggle Iranian diesel.
Syed Irfan Ali, a spokesman for the Customs, said that acting on a tip-off received by Deputy Collector Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Muhammad Raza Naqvi, staff of the Anti-Smuggling Squad of the Enforcement Collectorate Karachi deployed at the Mochko check post on the RCD Highway seized 4,000 litres of Iranian diesel being smuggled in a bus coming from Balochistan.
The suspects had hidden the smuggled diesel in secret boxes built in the back of the bus. The Customs also impounded the bus. The total value of the seized bus and diesel has been estimated at Rs3 million. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
