Street criminal nabbed while robbing food delivery rider

Police on Saturday nabbed a robber while he was mugging a food delivery rider on Shahrah-e-Quaideen.

The arrest was made after a patrolling police party noticed two suspects trying to rob a food delivery rider at gunpoint. Upon seeing the police, the two robbers tried to flee but the police were able to catch one of them.

The arrested man was identified as Ubaid. Police claimed to have seized a weapon and ammunition from his possession. A case has been registered and efforts are under way to arrest the other suspect.

In another case, the Khokhrapar police claimed to have arrested a suspect who had fled after firing at police during an encounter a few days.

The suspect was identified as Bilal, alias Daanga. He was arrested during an intelligence-based raid. Police said he confessed during the interrogation to his involvement in several street crime incidents.

Police said Bilal was involved in an exchange of fire with them a few days ago. As a result of the police firing, Bilal’s accomplice Asif was injured and arrested but Bilal had managed to escape that day.

The suspects were involved in robberies in the Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony and Gulshan areas. Police they used to sell parts of stolen mobile phones.

Bilal has also been booked in cases of possessing illegal arms and snatching motorcycles.

Meanwhile, the Landhi police arrested two alleged drug peddlers wanted by law enforcers. The suspects were identified as Sher Muhammad, alias Shehru, and Zeeshan Shah.

Police claimed to have seized more than one kilogramme of charas and heroin from the suspects’ possession. According to police, the two men were repeat offenders who had been jailed in the past in cases pertaining to narcotics.
