Shafiq to be chef de mission at Paris Olympics
LAHORE: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) senior official and president of Pakistan Handball Federation (PHF) Mohammad Shafiq will serve as chef de mission of Pakistan’s contingent during this summer Paris Olympics.
This is the first time that Shafiq will be acting as chef de mission of the national contingent at Olympics. He was part of Pakistan contingent in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. This is after five years that Shafiq is getting a chance to accompany Pakistan national contingent. Shafiq is also the secretary of the Asian Handball Federation and treasurer of the POA. So far shooters Kishmala Talat, Joseph Gulfam and Ghulam Mustafa Bashir and javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem have qualified for the Paris Olympics. Besides them two swimmers and a woman athlete will showcase their skills in the Olympics on wild card.
