New improved health card to be launched soon: minister

LAHORE : Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that improvement of health sector is the first priority of Punjab govt and the health card will be launched soon in a better format. All the BHUs and RHCs are going to be revamped.

The provincial health minister expressed these views while addressing the convocation of a private medical and dental college in Bahria Town on Saturday. He also distributed medals and certificates of appreciation among the prominent students at the convocation.

The provincial minister congratulated all the fresh graduates of medical college and their parents. This college has been serving in the medical field for the past fifteen years. He said that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, we are trying to create convenience for the people. Merit is being ensured in the health sector. Recently, MSs of 24 hospitals have been appointed purely on merit, he added.

Khawaja Salman said that elements causing disrespect are being identified and dismissed from the health department. Medical is a highly respected field and our doctors are earning the respect all over the world through their outstanding performance. Our fresh graduates should become excellent doctors as well as excellent human beings, he added.

Pro-Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Prof Nadia Naseem said that today the fresh graduates have seen their parents blushing.

Speaking on this occasion, Akhtar Saeed Medical College Chairman Dr Farooq Saeed Khan welcomed the provincial health minister and other guests at the convocation. He said fourteen fellowships have already been approved at the hospital while ensuring merit.

Chairman Farooq Saeed Khan, Co Chairman Fariha Farooq, Principal Prof Nadeem Hafeez Butt, Prof Alam Durrani, Prof Eas Muhammad, Prof Atiqa, Prof Naheed, Prof Laeeq, faculty members, students and a large number of students and their parents also attended the convocation.
