PESHAWAR: The members of the Management Cadre Officers Association on Thursday protested the government’s move to post teachers to administrative positions in the Education Department.
Led by the association chairperson Gul Raj Khan, general secretary Imran Khan Jadoon and other office-bearers, the protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club. They were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans supporting their demands.
The protesters said administrative officers had been replaced with non-administrative officers in the Education Department which, they believed, would create an administrative crisis and affect the students.
They said posting “non-relevant” officers to the administrative positions was also a violation of the court orders. The protesters said that these officials were responsible for the crisis in the Education Department. “The schools are already facing a shortage of teachers and posting them as administrative officers will exacerbate the situation,” said one of the protesters. They demanded posting of administrative cadre officers to these positions to ensure that students’ education remained uninterrupted.
