This letter refers to the article ‘Attacking the NFC – again’ (May 10, 2024) by Dr Kaiser Bengali. Perhaps the writer has failed to notice that by virtually dispensing with local governments - which are supposed to provide basic facilities to citizens – and almost dismantling the basic education and health sectors, the provinces have established their own empires.
The result is the exploitation of the unfortunate public. Much more than the 7th NFC Award needs to be revised urgently in order to give some breathing room to the people.
