Measures for miners’ welfare ordered
LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani has directed the Mines Labour Welfare Commissioner to implement comprehensive measures for the welfare of miners. He issued these directions while chairing a departmental meeting here Wednesday.
Mines Labour Welfare Commissioner Punjab, Riaz Ahmad Chaudhry, and Deputy Director Works Engineer, Tariq Hassan and others attended the meeting. Gorchani reiterated the paramount importance of ensuring the welfare of miners, stressing the need for modern facilities and support systems. During the meeting, Gorchani announced significant measures, including, increasing monthly assistance for disabled miners to the level of EOBI’s monthly pension, increasing compensation for miners’ families in case of death during work from 5 lakhs to 8 lakhs.
