Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a westerly wave was likely to enter western parts of the country on April 24 (evening/night).
Tuesday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Shaheed Benazirabad where mercury reached 42°C while in Lahore it was 31.8°C and minimum was 19°C.
PDMA issues alert for rain, wind: According to a PDMA spokesperson, from April 23 till April 29, there are chances of gusty wind and rain with thunder and hail at a few places in Punjab.
PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has issued instructions to the Deputy Commissioners across the province to remain alert.
He said that departments concerned should be on alert to deal with the emergency situation. Monitoring of the situation in the PDMA control room continues 24/7.
Rescue 1122 and other rescue agencies must keep the machinery and personnel alert. Kathia said that citizens should be careful and stay away from electric poles and hanging wires.
Stay in safe places to avoid lightning. Never go under the open sky during lightning and stormy conditions. Take special care of children and never let them go near water that collects in low-lying areas. Citizens should avoid unnecessary travel and drive slowly.
