Fresh initiatives unveiled to empower youth through skills training
Islamabad: The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has set the stage for a significant boost in Pakistan's vocational training landscape. In its recent board meeting, the commission, guided by the Ministry of Federal Education's policies, greenlit several new programs and expansions to existing ones.
These initiatives prioritize equipping Pakistani youth with high-tech and in-demand skills. A flagship program, the "NAVTTC Summer of Code," is set to launch, offering intensive training in the IT sector. Additionally, existing programs are being significantly scaled up. The "Skilling Youth of Newly Merged Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" will see its beneficiary pool double, with 1000 individuals to be trained over two years at a cost of PKR 50 million. Similarly, the "She Fixes: Empowering Women through Vocational Training in Pakistan" program will empower 1000 women, with a project budget of PKR 100 million.
The board also approved the strengthening of vocational training authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK-TEVTA) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB-TEVTA), aiming to equip 1500 youth from each region with valuable skills. These directives stem from the Prime Minister's vision for youth empowerment.
NAVTTC's focus on high-quality training opportunities for all is evident in these approvals. With a special emphasis on empowering women and marginalized communities, these initiatives have the potential to significantly contribute to Pakistan's economic development by creating a skilled and qualified workforce. The unwavering commitment of NAVTTC to equipping the youth with in-demand skills positions Pakistan for a brighter future.
