LAHORE: A delegation from Uganda's Equator Medical University met Provincial Minister Primary and Secondary Healthcare Kh Imran Nazir. The delegation included Dean of Medical University Dr Filix and MS Hospital Medical University Dr James. Special Secretary Health Muhammad Iqbal, Additional Secretary Hafiz Shahid Latif, CEO PHFMC Dr Asim Altaf, PD PMU Mian Tariq and former MS Mayo Hospital Dr Zahid Parvez were also present.

During the meeting, Kh Imran Nazir gave a detailed briefing to the Ugandan delegation on the health system of Punjab. The minister also apprised the delegation of the vertical programmes of Punjab and said that under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, 2,500 BHUs and more than 300 RHCs were being completely revamped. The revamping work will be completed by March 2025. He said that the Clinics on Wheels Project for medical facilities in suburban areas of big cities would be launched this month, which will be inaugurated by the CM. Kh Imran Nazir said that the supply of free medicines in all THQ and DHQ hospitals would be started in the next three weeks. The minister said that the CM was determined to provide quality medical facilities to the citizens. The minister assured the delegation of all-out support and cooperation from the Punjab government for the upgradation of the Ugandan health system.
