FC North seizes drugs and other contraband items

PESHAWAR: The Frontier Corps (FC) North, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has seized drugs and other contraband items during a drive to curb smuggling in the province.

A communique said the actions were taken in a series of coordinated efforts in the Chitral, Dir, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai and Swat districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The trafficking of drugs, currency and various foreign commodities, including food items, household appliances, clothing, tires, auto parts and modern arms were targeted during the operations, it added.The communication said: “The recent operations resulted in the confiscation and destruction of 42 metric tons of prohibited items, such as cigarettes, paan, chhalya, and foreign medicines.”

Additionally, it said, the FC intercepted six kilograms of illegally smuggled gold from Afghanistan, along with a significant amount of foreign currency.

In the fight against narcotics, it added, the FC seized a total of 5,100 kilograms of drugs, which were handed over to relevant authorities for legal proceedings. These operations led to the apprehension of 104 individuals involved in criminal activities with legal actions initiated against them, it added.The communique said the FC North KP reaffirmed the commitment to collaborating with other law-enforcement agencies to combat smuggling activities and maintain peace and security.
