CM says govt committed to developing Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Sunday said the provincial government was committed to developing the provincial capital under a comprehensive strategy.

He was talking to the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Peshawar chapter, including MNA Arbab Sher Ali, MNA Shandana Gulzar, MNA Mohammad Asif Khan, MPA Meena Khan Afridi, MPA Fazal Elahi, Muhammad Asim, Kamran Bangash, Mehmood Jan and others.

The chief minister reiterated Peshawar’s significance as the city representing all residents of the province. The development of Peshawar stood as a top priority for the provincial government, he said and promised result-oriented actions under a comprehensive strategy.

Gandapur pledged to restore Peshawar’s charm as the “city of flowers” and announced plans to transition street lighting to solar energy to promote sustainability. He said the provincial government was also considering the implementation of a local train system to alleviate traffic congestion, as discussions were underway with a private company for a BOT (Built, Operate and Transfer) model.

Acknowledging the gravity of Peshawar’s sewerage issues, the chief minister vowed to address this challenge by transitioning the entire sewerage system underground for a permanent solution. He also underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing public service delivery by appointing competent professionals based on merit in all autonomous institutions.

The meeting centered on addressing various public concerns within the provincial capital. Among the issues discussed were traffic congestion, infrastructure enhancement, provision of clean drinking water, sewage management, and security.Furthermore, plans are in place to refine the local government system to ensure efficient resolution of public issues at the grassroots.
