The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued the notification for the Sindh Assembly constituency PS-115 Keamari-V in Karachi declaring the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate as the winner.
The ECP had earlier announced the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidate as the winner of the constituency, but the provisional result was challenged by the PPP
candidate Muhammad Asif Khan.
After a recount of the votes, the PPP candidate was declared the returning candidate of the constituency. According to the ECP, Khan has secured 20,310 votes while the PTI-backed Shahnawaz Jadoon is the runner-up with 19,544 votes. With the issuance of the notification, the PPP has now a strength of 85 lawmakers-elect in the house of 130 general seats.
