LAHORE:The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) has notified resumption of new gas connection installation.
As per notification titled ‘Provision of gas connections on RLNG basis in privately developed housing schemes,’ the management of gas utility advised staff concerned to resume regasified liquefied natural gas-based gas connections against IT-generated pending lists) in private housing societies where network has been laid/commissioned on RLNG after recovery of 100 percent cost from the developer. This policy will also be applicable on new phases/ extensions/ blocks of existing housing societies commissioned on RLNG basis per Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) policy.
RLNG connections can only be provided to housing societies/ phases/ blocks which have not already been provided system gas, notification adds. It is stressed that the moratorium on system gas domestic connections will continue. Therefore, no system gas connection should be processed.
As new connections are to be resumed, laying of network in private housing schemes is also being initiated. The approval of SIFC also covers laying of network in private housing societies being part of the proposal submitted to Secretary Petroleum in this respect. The RLNG-based connections will be on individual meter basis as per the relevant terms and conditions.
Top management of SNGPL asked relevant departments to arrange / allocate resources, meters and service line material on immediate basis as the requirements are similar to system gas connections The resumption of domestic gas connection has been made in the light of decision made by the Apex Committee of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) early this month. SIFC approved in principle processing of RLNG based connections to private housing societies. It is apprised that provision of domestic RLNG connections is on full price recovery basis. Therefore, such connections will help in reduction of diversion cost of RLNG to domestic sector.
