LAHORE: Juvenile Justice Advocacy Network Pakistan under the umbrella of Legal Awareness Watch and stakeholders has been launched to seek effective implementation of Juvenile Justice System Act 2018 which was promulgated across Pakistan in the wake of Universal Periodic Review on Pakistan in 2017.
In a press statement, the convener, as well as the Director of Legal Awareness Watch of the network in Punjab, said that there was a need of time to launch a network across Pakistan with the assistance of stakeholders and civil society organisations to seek effective and meaning implementation of juvenile justice law 2018 in lines with the United Nations (UN) Conventions on the Rights of Child to which the State of Pakistan acceded to in 1989.
The News learnt that the objective of the network would be to seek effective implementation of the Act 2018 and ensure “children less than of eighteen years to be detained in rehabilitation centres and observation homes during the pendency of the investigations after lodging of FIRs.
