LAHORE : The month of February is significant in the history of Lahore General Hospital. In February 1958, Begum Naheed Sikandar Mirza established a Darul Falah here within a year Akhtar Hussain Governor of West Pakistan converted it into LGH to provide medical facilities to the people.
Some 17 years later, in February 2007, a new accident emergency department with 110 beds was established. Now, CM Naqvi maintained this tradition by inaugurating the up-gradation work of hospital in February 2024 after upgrading and renovating it. Because of this, an individual place was once again achieved in the history of the hospital for the month of February. These views were expressed by Principal Ameeruddin Medical College Prof Al-Fareed Zafar, while addressing the patients and their attendants in LGH. He said the addition of modern medical facilities in the Emergency Department, LGH and the improving the capacity building after its renovation and up gradation. He said the most valuable diagnostic MRI, CT scan was also inaugurated in February this year due to which LGH got a unique status. Prof Al-Fareed Zafar said new more beds were added to the hospital and infection-free operation theaters were built and the accident emergency department was made state-of-the-art in accordance with international standards.
