Committee decides to send video against SALU VC to FIA for forensics

KARACHI: A meeting of a fact-finding committee pertaining to Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, who was sent on forced leave on the basis of a video scandal, was chaired by NED Vice Chancellor Dr Sarosh Lodi at the university on Wednesday.

Vice-Chancellor Dow Medical University Dr Saeed Qureshi, Vice-Chancellor Sindh Madrasah-e-Islam University Dr Mujeeb Sahrai and Deputy Director FIA Amjad Abbasi attended the meeting.

The meeting was told that a USB in a sealed envelope has been received by the registrar of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, which contains the video, but it is yet to be determined whether the video is genuine or fake.

The meeting decided that the video should be forensically checked and sent to the FIA cybercrime director for this purpose. It was also decided that the next meeting would be held after the forensic report had been received.

It should be noted that after the video went viral on social media, Vice Chancellor Dr Khalil was sent on forced leave for one month from January 12. Similarly, Lyari University VC Dr Akhtar Baloch has been on forced leave for the last two years and the charge of the position is with the VC of the medical university. The investigation against Dr Baloch has been completed, but there is only one hearing to be conducted by the Sindh chief minister, but like former chief minister Murad Ali Shah, Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar is yet to take up the matter.

The charge of the VC of the Law University is also held by the VC of the medical university and a summary of the names of two experts for the appointment of vice chancellor to the Law University has also been lying in the Chief Minister’s House for the past one and a half months. .
