19 women among 181 vie for 3 NA seats in capital

Among female candidates are Samana Raza, Nighat Wadood, Amina Sadaf, Rabia Masood, Rabia Iqbal, Umbreen Turk, Samina Aftab, Huma Ayub, Nuzhat Talib and Farhana Qamar

ISLAMABAD: As many as 181 validly nominated candidates, including at least 19 females, are in the electoral arena for the three seats of the National Assembly from the federal capital.

According to Form-32 (revised) lists, there are a total of 63 each candidates from NA-46 and NA-47, who have filed their nomination papers and have been validly nominated by the respective returning officers, whereas, 55 male and female candidates have been named in the lists from NA-48. There are some candidates, who have been nominated in more than one consistency. They include: Syed Mustafain Kazmi, who has filed his papers from all the three Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) constituencies while Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Zaheer ud Din Babar Awan, Ch Ilyas Meharban and Ansar Aziz are among those who want to contest from two constituencies. Other validly nominated candidates include Raja Khurram Nawaz, Anjum Aqeel Khan, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Aamer Mehmood Kayani and Mian Muhammad Aslam.
