Scientific conference at RMU provides opportunities of learning
Rawalpindi:The sixth Rawalpindi Medical University International Scientific Conference being organised as part of golden jubilee celebrations of Rawalpindi Medical College is providing great opportunities to healthcare professionals while it would also help introducing modern techniques in management and treatment protocols in the country.
The international conference being organized from December 18 to December 23 here at the Old Campus of RMC includes as many as 37 symposia covering almost all specialties in the medical field while well over 120 pre-conference workshops have already been conducted under the scientific program of the conference in the last two-and-a-half months. Another 20 workshops are yet to be conducted at RMU in the next two weeks and a number of scientific sessions and research papers have also been a part of the scientific program of the conference.
The core scientific program of the conference was held on Monday and Tuesday. According to Vice Chancellor at RMU Professor Muhammad Umar (SI), the international scientific conference would help bring innovative techniques in the treatment of patients and would help young doctors to understand and utilize modern protocols.
It is important that as many as 48 international health experts and over 250 national speakers would deliver lectures covering technical aspects of health problems and their management apart from training young doctors on using modern equipment, he said. He added the training sessions under the conference would help ensuring equitable health facilities for every part of society.
The RMU organizing committee of the conference comprising members of academic council and all the faculty members of RMU believe that holding of such events certainly help to upgrade existing healthcare facilities in the country and would bring new knowledge to the country regarding patient management. The participation of national and international healthcare experts in the conference should be taken as a noble gesture of the health community as they have come forward to help their countrymen.
According to Professor Umar, the organization of such a conference of international standard has been planned with an aim to apprise, nurture and globalize mastery technological innovation, knowledge and research of medical field which would help the young Rawalians to make an early debut on international stage.
During the conference, well over 600 scientific posters would be presented and scientific sessions on medicine and allied specialties, global mental health, pathology, cardiology, surgery and allied specialties, Oncology, ENT and Pharmacology, medical education, orthopaedics and neurosurgery, paediatrics, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Ophthalmology and community medicine/public health would also be held.
Through the conference, the young doctors and postgraduate trainees would be given career guidance for which a special symposium on career counselling is being organized on Thursday. All the scientific sessions of the conference are being chaired by esteemed professors who are considered as reputed medical educationists and experts in their relevant specialties.
