Rising criminal activity in Rawalpindi has left residents feeling unsafe and unprotected. A friend of mine recently had her phone snatched by a group of thieves and this incident left me feeling anxious and uncomfortable for quite some time. Sadly, there are now similar incidents almost every day in the city.
The absence of good security measures and lax policing have emboldened the criminals. There needs to be an increase in police searches, better crime-monitoring measures, and more cooperation between the police and residents in order to resolve this issue.
