Hope remains
On November 27, Syeda Jugnu Mohsin, a former MPA from Punjab and a scion of one of the province’s prominent families, gave an interview to a private news channel. She confided that she is not planning to contest the upcoming elections from her ancestral seat in the Okara constituency and will instead make room for younger candidates from the region.
She also highlighted many of the problems Pakistan is currently facing including our negative growth rate, inflation, overpopulation, rampant corruption, and rapid currency devaluation.
Despite all the doom and gloom, Mohsin remains upbeat about Pakistan’s prospect and claims that we must never give up hope as it is our biggest asset. I completely agree with this point. We must draw up a five-to-10 year national charter that has the approval of all stakeholders and start implementing it next year. This is arguably the only way we can overcome the many problems we are now facing.
