LAHORE: A helpline is going to be introduced for the immediate redressal of the grievances of the mine workers and in this regard an agreement will be signed with PITB today (Wednesday).
It was told in the briefing to Provincial Minister of Mines and Minerals Ibrahim Hassan Murad, who presided over a departmental meeting and reviewed the measures regarding the welfare projects of mine workers on Tuesday.
Additional Secretary Mines and Minerals Sidra Younis, Mines Labour Welfare Commissioner Riaz Ahmad Ch and other relevant officials participated in the meeting.
The minister was briefed that brochures and standees have been installed in the field offices for the awareness of the workers. The marriage grant has been increased from Rs two to four lakhs. The provincial minister directed to ensure implementation on SOPs and hold an immediate meeting with the PITB for data sharing of each mine worker so that a unique code can be issued to each worker. He further directed that it should be ensured that the grant reaches the original heirs.
11 die in road accidents
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,102 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,161 were injured. Out of these, 533 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 628 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
