LAHORE: Reminding the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that it has set the date of February 8 for general elections, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Shazia Marri on Wednesday said the “adventures” should come to end now and everyone needs to respect rule of law.

Talking to the media, Shazia Marri said the PPP would contest the upcoming general elections on its own programme, adding that the country needed a leader like Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari as he had come up with a new vision and thought.

She said that the PPP chairman wanted to serve Pakistan and aspired to see a bright future for the country’s children.

“The Pakistan Peoples Party is a party that represents the people of Pakistan and it cannot be cornered through victimisation,” she added.

She said the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was still in a state of shock after its defeat in Karachi’s mayor elections.

To a question regarding power sharing with any party after polls, she said the parties formed a working alliance after the elections.

The Pakistan Peoples Party leaders, including Shazia Marri, Farhatullah Babar, Altaf Qureshi and others also addressed a seminar concerning human rights and women empowerment.

The PPP leaders said that the people’s mandate should be respected and the only way to coming to power was through the people’s vote.
