Elijah Woods has a successful acting career of his own, however, despite people’s confusion, Spider-Man is not his list of movies.

The 45-year-old appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast to discuss his latest project, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, when host Josh Horowitz asked him which other celebrity he's most recently been mistaken for.

"Most recently, I think it was actually Tobey Maguire, which does still happen, and it's always for Spider-Man. It's not for any of Tobey's other work," Wood said.

When Horowitz asked about the "context" of the interactions, Wood responded: "It's just like, 'Hey, Spider-Man.’"

Wood continued: "I won't correct people," to which Horowitz said, "Maybe they think you're actually Spider-Man, not Tobey Maguire."

"Maybe you're right. Maybe I've got it wrong all this time. That's possible," Wood, who shares two children with wife Mette-Marie Kongsved, jokingly responded.

Maguire played the role of Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s directorial, the original live-action 2000s Spider-Man trilogy.

He then returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw him unite with other Spider-Man actors Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.

In a 2023 interview, Maguire said of returning to the Spider-Man suit: "When they called initially, I was like finally! I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this. Not without nerves – you know, 'What will this look like and what will the experience be?' "

"But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It's just like, 'Yes!' It's fun and exciting,” he recalled at that time.

Elijah Wood, meanwhile, starred as Frodo Baggins in filmmaker Peter Jackson's early 2000s Lord of the Rings trilogy and reunited with the director for The Hobbit movies, all based on author J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy novels.
