LAHORE:Increasing trend in the prices of almost all vegetables was recorded this week while the prices of few were reduced only in the list but no impact of reducing rates were seen in the markets prices.

Chicken meat has again picked the upwards price trajectory and its price increased continuously for the last two consecutive weeks. Alongside, there is no regulated rates of fish issued so the sellers are selling at their own rates. Non-implementation of the official rates raised the questions about the price fixation mechanism of the government which also proved that the wrong rate lists are being issued by the authorities or the relevant authorities failed to implement it. In both cases, the major responsibility comes on the DC office which is involved in both price list release and price fixation and implementation of it through price control magistrates. This wrong price fixation also gives a free hand to the sellers to overcharge the consumers. The sellers refused to sell the perishable at official rates and consumers are forced to pay higher rates.
