Sindh Pakistan Peoples Party Information Secretary Senator Aajiz Dhamrah has said the PPP is going to kick off its campaign to contest the upcoming general elections in the country by holding a Jalsa in Mithi on November 13.

Speaking at a press conference here at the Karachi Press Club on Friday, he said the Jalsa would break previous records of the PPP’s public meetings by assembling a greater number of the party followers.

Dhmrah said that it was wrong to assume that the popularity of the Peoples Party was limited to a particular province or to certain areas; instead, the party represented the federation of Pakistan. He said the PPP during its past regimes had served the people of the province well.

He said the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases after its expansion had been providing free treatment services to the people of Sindh. He said the coal reserves in Tharparkar were being exploited to generate electricity for the national grid.

He said the electricity was being supplied free of charge to the underprivileged residents of Islamkot as the coal reserves in their area were extracted for the massive production of electricity for the entire country, he added.

The PPP leader predicted that the next prime minister would be from Sindh instead of being a native of Lahore. He said the political opponents of the PPP in Sindh had been left with no choice but to form an alliance to jointly contest the general elections against his party.

Speaking on the occasion, former Sindh women development minister Shehla Raza said the PPP supported all such political parties which stood for the supremacy of democracy in the country.

She said the accountability cases were still being pursued against the PPP leadership that never left the country.
