Pakistan’s fashion industry has seen a lot of growth in recent years. Our designers have really defined creativity and there are dozens of foreign/local educated new fashion designers who have stepped up the game. Whether its bridals, formals or a luxury lawn pret line, one is spoilt for choice with a number of brands offering quality and unique designs. However, this isn’t just limited to within our borders. Many of our designers are now internationally-acclaimed for either combining contemporary silhouettes with the traditional techniques of old, or coming up with their own unique styles that never fail to wow its audience. This is one of the reasons why our fashion shows have made a place in the international front also.
Recently, Pakistan Fashion Week 13 (PFW13) was held at a hotel in Mayfair, London. Headlined by model and actress, Fouzia Aman, the luxury pret shows showcased an impressive 29 designer line-up and an unprecedented footfall of over 3,000 attendees.
PFW13 is the main UK exhibitor of the flourishing Pakistani clothing industry, collaborating with designers to make their services available in a one-stop experience. The designers who took part in the show included HSY, Maheen Khan, Fahad Hussayn, Gogi by Hassan Riaz, Moazzam Abbasi, Hamna Amir, and Sadaf Amir.
Adnan Ansari and Chris East have become renowned for delivering Pakistani fashion to the UK market without packing their suitcase or costly travel abroad. The shows and exhibition draw an audience from all over the UK and provide an opportunity to speak to designers to create bespoke wedding attire. Adnan Ansari, Co-Founder and Creative Director for Riwayat said, “We are pleased with the feedback of all for our event, and with a 36-meter long ramp to allow so many more to be in the front row. We are thrilled to be able hold these shows with such a receptive audience; this drives us to deliver our best experience yet!”
PFW13 also saw the launch of ‘Pret a Pak’, an exclusive official Riwayat online store listing multiple designers with convenient access from an app. The show was choreographed by Adnan Ansari, produced by Chris East, photographed by Shahid Malik and coordinated by Muneer Muhammad. Styling was done by Nabila and Hair and Makeup by Saima Kiran.
