When it comes to buying jewellery, it’s very important to choose pieces that suit your personality and style. Be it chunky or delicate adornments, it is important to select the ones that suit you best. Do not be a slave to trends. And remember, do not over do. Adopt one statement piece at a time and let it shine rather than piling up on multiple jewels as the jewellery designer Ambreen Intizar puts it.

Ambreen Intizar started her career as a dress designer. “I’m a businesswoman - always have been. Even early on in life I knew I would start my own business. I have been designing clothes since 2010. Initially, I was stocking at various stores in Karachi and in Dubai but since 2014, I started working by appointment only because around the same time I set up my jewellery business as well,” reveals Ambreen. Now both aspects of designing continue side by side keeping our designer super occupied.

Ambreen always had a penchant for all that was creative and it was early on in life that she realised she wanted to be a designer. “While designing dresses, I always felt the need for accessorising my dresses with the perfect jewellery especially while I was on shoots. I often felt that something did not fit when I had to use other designers’ jewellery. It was just not good enough. Secondly, some of my clients too urged me to start a jewellery line. The more I thought about it the more I liked the idea and so I thought, why not? To me a complete woman is someone who has a good personality and dresses up well with the right use of jewellery, bags and shoes. That is the idea that I had in mind when I started out on my jewellery designing venture. I am someone who likes to evolve with time. I like to try out new avenues so don’t be surprised if the next time we meet I may have started my hand bags and shoes business as well - anything that makes a woman look beautiful is my business,” shares Ambreen with a smile.

For her designs, the designer seeks inspiration from life itself. “Anything and everything can inspire me. Inspiration actually comes from within, I feel. Anything can trigger it but the essence has to come from within - what comes from the heart is the real inspiration. My surroundings are always an inspiration for me.”

Talking about being inspired, it’s the stones and colours that get Ambreen going. Basically stones and gems are what you work with in jewellery. It all starts with the stones. The colour, look and feel of the stones - emeralds, rubies, tourmaline, topaz, chalcedony, amazonite, citrines, amethysts. And it’s these gorgeous stones that Ambreen loves to play with. “It’s the stones I love. However, I love working with cubic zircons and rubies. There are many pieces in my line of jewellery that I love to craft again and again. I try to make the best of pieces in affordable prices. Colour also plays a significant part in my design process. They draw me in.” She feels the colours and then a design is formed in her mind. And that is when the creative process begins.

When designing a specific piece or line, Ambreen thinks like a buyer. She only designs pieces that she would like to buy herself. “I have always been a quality conscious person and a perfectionist. So each and every piece I design is close to my heart - its precious to me,” expresses the designer.

Ambreen hails from a business family and is the eldest amongst three siblings. A modern thinker and an enlightened soul, she strongly believes in good values - that she has learned from her parents.” She has always been an achiever be it in academics or professional life. “I believe in success through hard work, dedication, consistency and perseverance. I love going out with friends, watching movies, listening to music and most of all spending time with family and friends,” shares the devoted lady. And that is also how she manages to strike a balance in her personal and professional life. “I take my family as my first priority. I’m a good cook and love to cook for my family and friends. I am a mother of three sporty kids - two sons and a daughter. My eldest is a cricketer and the other two footballers. I love my family,” says the happily married Ambreen Intizar as she signs off.
