It’s chai time!

Who doesn’t like to hang out with friends? And the best option is to go to a fancy place for lunch or dinner. Of course, it is something that we all enjoy and surely it gives us the much desired change we need. But there are times when you don’t feel like going for fine dining and just want to chit chat the time away and sip on some ‘karak chai’ along with desi munchies. Well, for all you chai lovers out there, the good news is that recently, ‘Chikachino Cafe’ has been launched in Islamabad. The cafe is the brainchild of Dr. Aamir Rashid, who is also the owner of ‘Tuscany Courtyard’.

The idea of opening up this cafe came about when Dr. Rashid was sitting on the veranda of his restaurant and craving for a delicious cup of tea that would just refresh him. After thinking where he could get some amazing tea, he realized that there weren’t many tea places in Islamabad. To kill his chai craving, Dr. Rashid went to Tuscany’s kitchen and told his chef to make him tea with an instruction ‘chik ke rakhna’. The tea was of beautiful khaki colour and this is where the word ‘chino’ was derived from, hence the name ‘Chikachino’. The best part about the cafe, located in F7 area, is that it is open 24 hours a day. They offer 12 varieties of tea as well as delicious desi snacks. The little seating area outside makes for a great experience where one can enjoy tea in traditional clay cups.

Now coming to the launch! The event, organized by Rezz Aly Shah, was a glamorous affair which was hosted by models Maha, Kanwal, Ammara, Nimra, Zainab, Zara and Sabeen. Also, many media personalities and socialites were spotted at the occasion. At the event Dr. Rashid said, “The slogan of the cafe is ‘Pure as Pakistan’ as everything from the ingredients to teacups is local depicting all regions of Pakistan - Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.”
