The world has become a completely different place to live in for a decade or two. We often read success stories from around the globe. These stories are of some talented individuals who intend to give a new horizon to our lifestyle. Such interesting stories give today’s youth enough motivation to pave ways towards a successful and bright future. Similarly, Pakistan is not lagging behind. Recently, the committee of Pakistan Excellence Award (PEA) held an award ceremony in Marriott Hotel, Karachi. The ceremony was held in connection with celebrating some of the known people from entertainment and media industry.Another ceremony...

While addressing the attendees and media personnel, patron of PEA, Anwar Sangi said, “We love our country and its people and it is our duty to encourage our countrymen, especially on this joyous occasion of 70 years of independence.”

Then it was time for the award distribution. Model and actress Aamina Sheikh won the best actress award, while Sadia Imam and Shamoon Abbasi bagged awards for their services in the drama industry. Sultana Siddiqui got the lifetime achievement award. Other recipients include Abdullah Sultan and Zubeida Tariq who received awards in different categories.

Later on, the Chairman of Pakistan Excellence Award took the stage and shared his views. “Freedom is a blessing. 70 Years ago, our forefathers sacrificed a lot to attain this country, which we have been celebrating every year. In the same vein some of our friends decided to lay the foundation of Pakistan Excellence Awards through which we honour people who have done tremendous work for Pakistan. We would like to congratulate all the award recipients of Pakistan Excellence Award.”

The awards night was a well attended affair. Adeel Hussain, Aly Khan, Sabri Boys, Saleem Afridi, Kashif Khan and many others were spotted on the occasion. Even though, it was a good initiative, the award ceremony could have been made more interesting. There were no entertaining elements such as music or dance performances. Guests who came on time (as the invite said 7.30 pm) had to wait patiently to get their food which was served after 11pm. We hope that in future the management of the award committee will take care of the small details which actually make all the difference!
