The month of Ramazan brings with it countless blessings, along with some of the most delicious and mouth watering foods that are surely to make your iftaars absolutely delectable. Don’t forget to try this recipe out. We are sure you will have a blissful Ramazan...

INGREDIENTSChile pea puffs

Oil      for greasing pan

Cooked green peas, lightly mashed  1 cup

Crumbled paneer       1 cup

Small green chillies, minced  2

Salt    1/4 tsp or to taste

Red chilli powder or red chilli flakes  1/4 tsps

Minced garlic  1/2 tsps

Wonton wrappers      24

Lightly beaten egg white      1

METHOD

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet with oil.
  • Take a bowl; combine the peas, paneer, green chillies, salt, chilli powder and garlic. Mix well.
  • Put 1 teaspoon of the mixture in the centre of a wonton wrapper. Lightly brush the edges of the wrapper with the egg white. Fold the wrapper over to form a triangle, or if you are using round wrappers, fold to form a half moon. Press the edges with a fork, gently to secure the seam so the filling does not fall out.
  • Place the puffs in a single layer on the baking sheet. Brush them lightly with oil.
  • Cook for 7 to 8 minutes or until they are crisp and the skin changes to a golden brown colour. Turn once halfway through baking.
  • Serve immediately with your choice of chutney.

Note: Chile Pea Puffs can also be deep fried.
