Dear Ed,

It was fun reading Osama Tahir’s interview in your magazine. I think the answers he gave show that he wasn’t interested in the interview at all. To a lot of questions he said: too many to name. It sounds pathetic! I doubt our celebrities have any idea how much their fans look up to them for inspiration. And our celebrities can’t even answer basic questions like what their favourite movie or book is.

I also think it is interviewer’s responsibility to elicit meaningful responses from their interviewee. Can’t they force them to name at least one movie that they like from “hundreds”?

Dear Ed,

The series “Violet Vipers” by Saniyyah Eman is great even though I don’t see a “happy ending” happening here. And we have the reality to confirm that - it’s been more than six months since Kashmir is in lockdown, cut off from the world, and no one in position of power seem concerned. Like Jaleelah said in a recent episode, “You have to be in Kashmir to remember Kashmir!”

Please start numbering the episodes, if possible. It’s so confusing to keep a track of the episodes.

Query

Hi Ed,

I’ve noticed Us mag is publishing lot of stuff on seasons - “winter fashion trends” and “the autumn” to name a few. I was just wondering if you people will publish something related to spring or summer. I have some ideas but I am confused; can you guide me?

Rabia Saleem

Hey Rabia, we consider a write-up based on how relevant it is to our audience, which is you - young people! So, if somebody sent us an article regarding fashion trends or how a particular season brings to their mind some fond memories, it’s considered not only for its timeliness but also because Us is a platform for the youth and anything that they find interesting. We would love to hear your ideas. Please write to us at us.mag@thenews.com.pk

Reflection

Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A)

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) said, “While a man was walking on a road. he became very thirsty. Then he came across a well, got down into it, drank (of its water) and then came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. The man said to himself “This dog is suffering from the same state of thirst as I did.” So he went down the well (again) and filled his shoe (with water) and held it in his mouth and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?” He said, “(Yes) There is a reward for serving any animate (living being).”
