Query

Hello Editor,

It’s great that you people are adding more comic strips in the Comic Relief section. They are fun to read. Can we also send jokes and humorous text?

Thanks for your feedback,

Muniba. Yes, you can!

Feedback

Hi Ed,

I really wish my ex-boss could read the Bits ‘n’ Pieces published in Us mag last week. A workaholic himself, he would expect the same from all his employees; the same level of “dedication” as he used to say it. It didn’t matter that we manage to complete our work on time. How we longed for a stretch!

Holed up in the office for six hours straight started getting the better of me. I started taking pills to relieve myself of splitting headaches. It took me a while, but safe to say, I’ve moved on as my finances improved. Seeing that piece, I couldn’t stop myself from sending this letter. It’s 2019 and it’s just sad how organizations exploit individuals trying to earn an honest living for themselves. I never understood when my older siblings would complain of burden at their workplaces, because I thought they loved what they were doing. It was only when I started working myself did I realise my satisfaction was only part of the equation; the place where you work and the people you work with add to it. You can go from enjoying your dream job to counting days in hell.

Reflection

Narrated by Al-Bara bin ‘Azib (R.A)

When Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) concluded a peace treaty with the people of Hudaibiya, Ali bin Abu Talib (R.A) wrote the document and he mentioned in it, “Muhammad, Allah’s Apostle.” The pagans said, “Don’t write: ‘Muhammad, Allah’s Apostle’, for if you were an apostle we would not fight with you.” Allah’s Apostle asked Ali to rub it out, but Ali said, “I will not be the person to rub it out.” Allah’s Apostle rubbed it out and made peace with them on the condition that the Prophet and his companions would enter Mecca and stay there for three days, and that they would enter with their weapons in cases.

NEWSFLASH

Thousands of school students across the world skipped class on Friday, March 15, to take to the streets to demand politicians take action to tackle climate change. The Global Climate Strike is an offshoot of the Fridays for Future movement that has already seen teenagers in a host of countries go on strike.

The movement began with 16-year-old environment activist Greta Thunberg, who in August last year started skipping school on Fridays to protest outside Sweden’s parliament.
