Feedback

Hey Eddy,

It’s great that Us magazine is giving young artists a chance to showcase their work. There aren’t many places where amateur artists can send their art.

I would say Zahra Qaiser’s art work is stunning! And I really miss Naeema Yahya’s and Andaleeb Tariq’s paintings.

Hi Ed,

The cover story on Muhammad Hanif’s talk at Lincoln Corner was an interesting read. The writer has mentioned some great pieces of advice for budding writers like: learn to read actively and trust your editor who helps you polish your final draft.

Another thing is regarding the layout of the story. I think there is no point in running two similar pictures on the same page.

I also enjoyed reading “Tali - a treasure trove”. If I ever come to Karachi, I will definitely visit this arts and crafts store. I wish you guys cover other cities as well in your magazine.

Query

Dear Us Team,

I love reading poets’ corner. Sa’ad, Suhd,Haneen Moosa, and Ali Asghar Ghani are my favourite poets. I have an advice for Ali Asghar Ghani: please write poetry something on lighter topics. I would also like to applaud poetry competition winners for doing a great job. I know my work isn’t in the same league as them, but I do wish to see my name published in Us. Kindly let me know if there’s any criteria for poetry that you guys publish?

Junaid Ahmed

Dear Junaid, we value your feedback. There are no hard and fast rules here. Just make sure that your poetry is not childish. And it should not be more than 300 words. Looking forward to your poems. :)

Reflection

Narrated Abu Huraira

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) owed a man some debt (and that man demanded it very harshly). The companions of the Prophet wanted to harm him, but the Prophet said to them, “Leave him, as the creditor has the right to speak harshly.” He then added, “Buy (a camel) of the same age and give it to him.” They said, “We cannot get except a camel of an older age than that of his.” He said, “Buy it and give it to him, as the best amongst you is he who pays back his debt in the most handsome way.’
