Some books hit just the right cords with us and they are absolutely impossible to shake off, until much later. Colleen Hoover, a well known fiction writer is one such writer whose books aren’t easily forgettable. Her way of storytelling is packed with short, crisp sentences that just hit you hard. She chooses sensitive social issues and carefully weaves a story around them in a digestible manner, leaving you emotional and heartbroken, to say the least.

In All Your Perfects, Colleen hits the mark once again with a story that revolves around a couple facing a serious condition that sometimes torments and becomes a bone of contention between them, throwing their relationship off-balance and bringing them face-to-face with some of their worst fears. Colleen skillfully weaves through the intricate emotions and feelings of her characters.

What happens when a perfect couple starts to face their imperfections a couple of years down the road? Life is easy when surrounded with happiness but how do you maintain sanity when nothing is pointing you in the right direction? How do they confront each other?

Frustration and unmet expectations can really take their toll on a person. All Your Perfects answers these and many other questions in the minds of typical lovers who are trying to live out their dream of a perfect marriage.

Without giving much away, the story alternates between the past and present lives of the main characters, Graham and Quinn, who meet and fall in a whirlwind romance at the lowest point of their lives, only to face the reality of life and love later in their married life. Is there really such a thing as a perfect marriage or perfect partner? Do we have it in us to face the cruel realities of life? They must confront their worst fears to find out if they are indeed capable of maintaining the sacred marriage vows.

Colleen has very beautifully built the lives of her characters around love, loss, guilt, betrayal and confrontation leading them into a dark tunnel and trying to possibly show that there is light at the end of every tunnel. Our relationships are much more than our fears, regrets, unmet expectations and betrayals. There is indeed strength in each one of us to stand up to life and it’s only when pushed into the darkest corners of our minds that we learn to come out with full strength.

With her witty writing style she keeps the reader hooked, on the edge, wishing the best for the characters, laughing and crying along with them. Colleen has yet again managed to keep fiction real and meaningful. If you’re looking for a read that will shake you to your core, this one is a must!
