Born on 23rd November 1992 in Franklin, Tennessee, U.S.
Birth name was Destiny Hope Cyrus. Was nicknamed “Smiley”, later shortened to “Miley”. Eventually changed her name to Miley Ray Cyrus, with the middle name honouring her grandfather.
Has two siblings, brother Braison and sister Noah, as well as two maternal half-siblings, Trace and Brandi, and a paternal half-brother, Christopher.
Her godmother is Dolly Parton.
Took singing and acting classes as a child.
Made her television debut in the drama Doc, which starred her father Billy Ray Cyrus, in 2001, and her film debut in Big Fish (2003).
Auditioned for the Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana when she was eleven, originally trying out for the role of the title character’s best friend, but eventually being cast in the lead role instead. The series became massively popular and propelled her to global stardom.
Made soundtracks credited to the Hannah Montana character. Released her own debut album, Meet Miley Cyrus, in 2007. Has since released five more albums and is currently working on her next record.
Has also starred in films including The Last Song (2010), LOL (2012), and So Undercover (2012), as well as the miniseries Crisis in Six Scenes (2016).
Has had an on-again, off-again relationship with her The Last Song co-star Liam Hemsworth since 2010; they are currently engaged.
Lost the home she shared with Hemsworth earlier this month when it burned down in the Woolsey wildfire.
