Aoa Eddy!

I’m a student of MBBS final year. I want to start writing articles, so I wanted to enquire about the procedure/requirements for doing so at your magazine.

Muhammad Jawad Irfan

You can email your articles and stories to us.mag@thenews.com.pk.

Word count for 1 page is 550-650; for 2 pages, it’s 1000-1100. Your articles should be interesting and relevant to youth.

Hey Ed,

I totally enjoyed the write-up of Asif Nawaz about his acing the CSS exam; I am lost for words. A person who has achieved so much in life and not even the slightest hint of pride in his writing! Amazing. He repeatedly says that he is blessed, but I think his intellect has played a teeny bit role in the success he has achieved. MashaAllah. May Allah bless him with much more. Ameen.

I have started preparing for CSS (fresh out of M.A English) and everyone scares the hell out of me when I mention I am doing so. This interview is probably the first one which makes it seem a feat that is humanly possible to achieve. It feels like Us is aiding me at each and every step. A number of times I come across articles which are in accordance with my present situation. So, you can imagine my excitement at seeing the title page of Us (August 3).

Us is truly a magazine for the youth and I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Editor,

I am pleased to have a crisp issue of Us on my breakfast table on Fridays! It’s literally a treat for me.

I must mention that quite lately, I lost my interest in Us because it lost the spirit it once used to have. I grew up with Us and it was something I couldn’t imagine my life without - you would always find its old and fresh versions in the side pocket of my bag, on my study table and even in my diary. Just finished reading ‘Tips for a perfect to-do list’ and I am all praise for the way it is penned. Kudos to Sameen Hamid and the team!

Dear Ed,

Us is a magazine for young people and young people of Pakistan are very passionate about our political situation. So, I was surprised to see that you did not run any articles on elections this time. I am an old reader and I remember you devoted a complete issue of Us to elections held in May 2013. Even after elections, so much has happened on which there could have been articles, but so far there have been none.We are interested in politics!

The cover story on water scarcity (Pakistan without water by Hamza Hasan) was timely and informative. People should know how serious this issue is.Thanks for doing your part.

Reflection

Narrated by Haritha bin Wahab

I heard the Prophet (S.A.W) saying, “O people! Give in charity as a time will come upon you when a person will wander about with his object of charity and will not find anybody to accept it, and one (who will be requested to take it) will say, “If you had brought it yesterday, would have taken it, but today I am not in need of it.”
